Bilingual? Monitor various Amazon products with PriceWatcher

Grab140_2 If you speak more than one language, one of the key advantages must be sourcing products from outside the United Kingdom. We all know that we often pay over-the-odds for our electronics products and, as they are created for the European market, there's no reason why you can't buy a digital camera in Italy and use it in the UK. However, why not go further and use an online store, such as Amazon, to source your products? If you speak the language, you won't need to worry about translation.

Amazon PriceWatcher 2.1.3 is a free tool that will enable you to track the same products across the numerous Amazon online stores. You can then decide to source the product (postage and package needs taking in to account) from a store outside the UK.

Test yet another photo management tool with Photology

Grab140 Only a few short years ago, anyone producing digital photography software, magazines, websites or other literature, couldn't go wrong. People couldn't get enough of the latest information about what camera they should use and how they could get the most from their camera. The market has flattened somewhat, yet there are still software developers producing new photo management and sharing tools, although few compete with iPhoto on the Mac and are never as feature-packed as Adobe Lightroom or Aperture.

Photology 1.0.0.102 is yet another photo management tool that ships with a rather unique user-interface. It attempts to make management, editing and sharing, easy. It's clearly aimed at the consumer and would be superb if it was free software. However, it's commercial and only ships as a 14-day trial. Our advice? Try it and see how it stacks up against your current photo management software.

Permanentely erase documents from your PC with Eraser

Screengrab_3 If you have more than one person accessing the same computer, whether at home or at work, just dragging files to trash and then deleting the contents, doesn't remove them from your system. Worse, there are many scenarios where people donate old PCs to a charity shop or dispose of an old hard drive, but simply wipe the drive, forgetting that any unformatting tool will retrieve most, if not all, the contents. You really need to erase the contents, but in a manner that stops a standard tool from reversing this process.

Eraser 5.85 is a free tool that you can use to wipe individual files, data and other important information from your drive. These tools work by deleting the contents in the normal manner and then wiping over the files with other miscellaneous content, so if someone does attempt to retrieve the content, they'll find worthless information.

Add a calendar to Thunderbird with Mozilla Lightning 0.7

Screengrab_2 Microsoft Outlook is less of an email client and more of a general PIM, which enables you to store your tasks, notes, diary information and your meetings. If someone emails you with a meeting request, you can accept and automatically add this information to your calendar. The reverse is true. Set up a meeting and send out invites to people in your address book. Most other email clients supply you with the facility to send and receive email, so when a calendar add-on appears for Thunderbird, it's worth installing on your system to see if it improves your productivity.

Mozilla Lightning 0.7 is the calendar add-on for Firefox. You can add your meetings, task information and track this from within Thunderbird, which makes a lot of sense when people are contacting you about forthcoming plans. Mozilla Sunbird is the standalone version of the same calendar.

Take your web browser on the road with Firefox portable

Screengrab There's nothing worse than having to use another person's computer, when you're on the road. Accessing your email isn't easy, you can't remember your passwords, you might not have access to your bookmarks and you'll leave behind your personal information whilst you use their system. The best option would be to take your own software, on the road, on a USB stick. Simply connect this stick to their machine and use your software, self-contained, without leaving personal information behind.

Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.8 Portable edition is the version you can install on a USB stick, external hard drive or even your iPod, then use from this external device. If you install add-ons such as the Google Browser Sync and GMail Manager, you'll be able to access your bookmarks, email and more.

Run Vista on your new Leopard-based Apple Mac

Grab140 If you're an Apple Mac user, we'd certainly recommend you go out and test Leopard. It's a fantastic new operating system that contains a number of worthwhile new features that will justify and upgrade. We're quite impressed. However, the problems with compatibility exist for every new operating system. In fairness, Vista has been a 'mare and we wouldn't have upgraded if we'd known how many third-party apps would need upgrading. With Leopard, most apps will work, some will need an update. Virtualisation software will need an upgrade and both Parallels and VMware have released updates.

VMware Fusion 1.1 build 61385
is a beta version of the new Mac OS X virtualisation software that will enable you to run Vista or Windows XP SP2 on your Mac. The new version has early support for Leopard, along with improved Vista support under Bootcamp and more.

Store online passwords safely using KeyPass Free Edition

Screengarb Online accounts require passwords, whether you're accessing a bank account, Gmail or a social network such a facebook. It isn't secure for all of your account passwords to be the same. Inevitably we have numerous passwords, so remembering them is the problem. It's easy to to write them down on paper, but very unsure and likely they’d go missing. An option would be a password manager so all you need to remember is one master code to access all of your passwords.

KeyPass Free Edition 4.6.4 is a password manager that will work with your Internet browser. All you need is your master password and you’ve got access to all your passwords and other personal information. KeyPass will store everything within an encrypted database.

Share your pictures with friends and family using PhotoOnWeb

Screengrab_4 Sharing photos with friends and family can be rewarding, but takes time to process and publish. Getting them across to other people is the tricky part. Emailing can take a time, especially if you choose to send as high quality images. This increases the size of the email attachment, particularly if you want to send a whole album of images from a recent holiday or special occasion. By using you own homepage you can host the pictures yourself, enabling your friends and family to view them without having to arrange and send the images manually.

PhotoOnWeb 0.6.7 enables you to create online photo albums with relative ease. You can create various albums using built in templates, and simple online navigation for anyone viewing the images

Stay updated with the latest news using FeedReader 3.11

Screengrab_3 It can't be classed as social networking but scouring the web for the latest news isn’t really what you should be doing within a work environment. Sometimes though we may have our eye on a particular news story and, being able to keep track, could be convenient. One way to do this could be to use the news feeds provided by your favourite websites, enabling you to stay updated with headlines of particular interest.

FeedReader 3.11 will enable you to read the latest RSS-based news headlines. Simply subscribe to a news feed from your desired website and it will automatically keep you updated with relevant headlines or bulletins that are of interest.

Analyse system performance with Everest Ultimate Edition

Screengrab_2 System performance is dependant on the components you've used to configure your PC and the software installed. If you upgrade specific components it will inevitably have a positive impact on performance but, depending on how you use your PC, you need to make sure the right components are upgraded. How do you know which upgrades will be beneficial to your system?  You could run a system analysis tool that would run a diagnostic check on your entire system, or specific components.

Everest Ultimate Edition 4.20 will enable you to run a full system performance test so that you can see how it compares against other hardware and, it will also enable you to run diagnostic checks to see if components are performing ineffectively within your machine.

Keep your drive defragmented using the latest Diskeeper 20008

Screengrab Storing files and applications on your drive isn't performed with any logistical manner. Files should be stored in one continuous block, which means that they can be located and loaded in to memory without your drive having to skim over the entire surface. The problem is, fragmentation quickly occurs which means that it takes longer to boot your computer and launch applications.

Diskeeper 2008 has been around for a while and is commercial defragmentation software. The latest version contains a number of tasks that will attempt to keep your drive defragmented whilst you use your computer. This means that you shouldn't have to spend hours defragmenting your drive, at the end of every month.

Cleanse files from your PC using Ashampoo Magical Snap

Screengrab Over the time we own and use our computer, we'll install software, whether they are commercial applications, a game demo or freeware tools. You'll also need to remove installed software, which is where you're problems may begin. Use the Windows Add/Remove tool and you might find it leaves traces of files that remain hidden deep within your system. All this ultimately has a negative effect on your systems speed and performance.

Ashampoo Magical UnInstall 2.81 is a simple but effective uninstaller for removing unwanted programs and files. It will also monitor all new installations; it then enables your system to remember changes, this ensures that the files you choose are completely uninstalled.

Automate system tasks using RoboTask

Grab140 Using your computer can be rather routine. Just to convert an image, can take a few keystrokes. Perform this conversion a few times and you'll soon find that you've wasted 30 minutes converting images you require for creating a document. However, there's no reason you could either batch-process these images or use an automated process to load, convert then save them for further use. To do this, you'll need an automation tool.

RoboTask 2.6 is a commercial tool that will enable you to record key and mouse strokes so that you can save time performing certain tasks. You can even use RoboTask to assign tasks to a key combination, so that you can quickly open multiple applications.

Latest firewall for your PC, Agnitum Outpost Firewall 2008

Grab140_2 Microsoft Vista brought us beefed up security and a whole host of visual improvements. It also brought us the need to upgrade the majority of our software. Some Vista-compatible titles were released when the operating system was first launched, others have taken their time. For instance, security tools are the most complicated apps to fit in to the new Vista schematics, which may be the reason why it's taken Agnitum nearly 10 months to release a Vista-compatible version of their firewall and security suite.

Agnitum Outpost Firewall 2008
is the brand new commercial firewall, suitable for home users through to business use. However, it's commercial, whereas competitors such as PC Tools, Comodo, Ashampoo and even Webroot have released their firewalls for free, for personal-use. However, Jetico have gone the other way, turning v2 of their firewall from a previously free release in to a commercial application.

Apple Bootcamp now unavailable, Leopard release imminant

Screengrab_2 For no specific reason, most Mac users seem to be looking forward to the release of the brand new OS X operating system, Leopard, which is on-sale from 6pm on the 26th of October 2007. For instance, it has been reported that the pre-orders for Leopard are in excess of twice those of the pre-orders for the current operating system, Tiger.

It's not all good news though. Apple Bootcamp, the superb tool that enabled Mac users to use Windows XP or Vista on their Macs, at native speeds, has been made unavailable from Apple and you'll now need to wait until Leopard - which includes the final release of Bootcamp - to install and use the latest version. Apple Bootcamp was always in beta and the official license 'expired' when Leopard was due to ship.

Don't tell anyone, but the direct link to Apple Bootcamp 1.4 (the last beta available) is still active. If you're planning on getting Leopard for Xmas and haven't yet installed Bootcamp 1.4 beta, get it whilst you can!

Preview the latest version of Gizmo Project 4

Screengrab nothing better than chatting with people, rather than using email or even chatting to other users through something like messenger, or similar online chat apps. Email is so impersonal and it's used, like texting people, to cop-out of having to give someone bad news. Not good. With this in mind, using VoIP tools is a far more personal way to keep in touch with friends, family and even business colleagues. Up until recently, we'd have used Skype, but there are alternatives.

Gizmo Project 4 is a preview version of the forthcoming major release. Gizmo Project somewhat lags behind Skype in terms of development and version 4 is the first to support video-based calling. It also ships with a revamped user-interface and is cross-platform, so you'll be able to talk to other Gizmo users, irrespective of platform. You can also subscribe and pay cheap rates to call standard landlines.

Try the latest free office suite, OxygenOffice Pro 2.3

At the moment, it seems that developers are falling over themselScreenshot ves trying to give us their office suite, completely free of charge. Only recently, IBM offered the first beta preview of their Lotus Symphony suite, which consists of a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation tool. It's Microsoft Office compatible and also enables you to read and write to the open document format.

OxygenOffice Professional 2.3 was recently released and this can be described as OpenOffice 2.3 on steroids. If you like OpenOffice, you'll appreciate OxygenOffice even more. You get all the features, plus a huge collection of free clipart, preview documents and templates. This means it's even easier to get your documents produced as quickly as possible. Of course, OxygenOffice is also Microsoft Office compatible, so you can read and write to non-Office 2007 based documents.

Forthcoming Firefox 3 beta, with interface refresh

Grab140 It's the news that most web users have been waiting for, that Mozilla Firefox 3 is close to a public beta release. A few betas later and we'll find that we're close to the final release that was planned for late 2007. Along with many improvements to the image rendering engine and new features such as the Places bookmarks tool, the first beta is going to the first version where you'll see an user-interface refresh.

This user-interface is going to be improved across the board, particular for Vista and OS X users. Indeed, if you look at the OS X version, you may feel that you've accidentally launched Safari. Look at the image, it's very close. The OS X version will receive a few Leopard-like improvements though, including a cover-flow style add-ons browser and more. For now, check out Mozilla Firefox 3 preview 8 (alpha 8).

View the weather on your desktop with Meteo Fusion

Grab140 Few people can understand why on earth you want the weather displayed on your desktop. In winter, it barely changes and in summer, it's probably quicker to look out of the window. However, there are reasons why you might want to view the weather on your desktop. One good example would be if you owned a holiday home and you wanted to keep an eye on the forthcoming weather forecast, so you can make a judgement on whether you should make the the quick trip abroad, often last-minute.

Meteo Fusion 1.5.9.11 is like a weather desktop widget that will enable you to keep an eye on the weather in your local town or anywhere else in the world. It's quick too. If you want to find the weather in another location, enter the town and Meteo will find the location immediately.

Set up your own zero configuration network with Hamachi

Screengrab_3 Connecting to the Internet, back in the late 90s, used to be fairly hard using Windows and a dialup modem. Seriously, it wasn't that straightforward to get connected and keep your modem online. These days are long since gone and now getting connected is as easy as entering your username and password in to your broadband router. With many of us owning more than one home computer, these computers will be connected through the same router. However, connecting multiple computers, particularly those across different networks, isn't easy.

Hamachi 1.0.2.3 is a zero-configuration free networking tool that's designed as a cross-platform tool to enable you to setup your network, without fuss. It's based on secure peer-to-peer networking and enables anyone who you want to join your network, to join, as long as they have the password and other security requirements.

Test & use Linux safely without having to leave Windows

Screengrab_2 We've noticed there is a demand for Linux and people wanting to test Linux on their system, but are somewhat put off by having to install on their PC or even booting in to a Live CD, in case it causes damage to their existing Windows installation. In won't, but the fear makes them avoid going through the process. There's an alternative. You could try a virtual operating system.

VMware Player 2.0.2 is a completely free and lightweight tool for hosting virtual operating systems. However, VMware Player will enable you to host existing virtual operating systems that have been created and provided by other users. For instance, if you ever wanted to test Ubuntu 7.10 on your system, you could simply grab the VMware version of this OS and use it on VMware Player, on top of Windows.

Access a Mac-formatted drive using MacDrive 7.0.10

Screengrab If you want a Mac, but don't really want to leave Windows behind, the best option would be to purchase a cheap iMac or MacBook, with OS X pre-installed, then use the supplied Bootcamp software to create a separate partition for Windows XP or Vista. This would enable you to boot in to either OS X or Vista, as a separate partition, at native speeds. No emulation or anything involved. However, how do you access the contents of your Mac partition or an external formatted Mac drive, through Windows?

MacDrive 7.0.10 is a commercial solution that is installed on Windows and will run in the background checking for Mac-formatted drive. As soon as a Mac drive is found, it will enable you to access through Windows as a normal drive. You can read and write from this drive, whether it is an internal partition or external drive.

Three new and completely free disk defragmentation tools

Screengrab_2 From time to time, there seems to be a battle between various competitive applications, whether this is between the latest anti-spyware tools or the big three web browsers. This time around it is disk defragmentation tools and three have recently been updated and these three tools are all available completely free of charge. Disk defragmentation tools will enable you to rearrange the contents of your drive or drive partition so they are arranged in continuous blocks, which means file access is far quicker and your system seems more snappy.

IObit SmartDefrag beta 4 seems to have been in beta for ages, but is an excellent free disk defragmentation tool. Most of us are aware of Auslogics Disk Defrag 1.4, whilst the recent Defraggler v1, also in beta, has had a minor refresh.

Webroot Spy Sweeper now includes antivirus and firewall

Logo People must be rather confused about virus, Trojans, malicious software, spyware and other threats to their computer, which is a reason why they are turning to complete Internet suites, rather than installing individual anti-spyware, anti-malware and other applications. By installing multiple applications, you may find that your system is worse off as a result. Webroot have recognised this scenario and are now bundling their anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall application within one bundle.

Webroot AntiVirus with AntiSpyware & Firewall 5.5 might be a mouthful, but it's a complete suite of security applications bundled together to protect against the majority of Internet-based threats. As it's all configured from one interface, it makes controlling the various modules fairly easy.

Give Windows XP the Vista-look with VistaMizer 1.2.1

Screengrab If you had to justify the upgrade to Vista, how would you sell it to the average person who is happy with Windows XP? I've been using Vista for nearly a year and, from a production perspective, it's still a little unstable running particular 'Vista compatible' applications. Visually it's better than previous operating systems and from a security perspective, more secure. However, an operating system is merely a tool to enable you to run applications to perform your job or enjoy your computer. For this reason, some people are still holding on to XP, at least until Vista SP1 is released.

VistaMizer 1.2.1
is a free customisation pack that will enable you to turn XP in to Vista, at least from a visual theme perspective. You can give it a bit of a visual overhaul, before you finally upgrade to Vista. This is based around an installer that will update many elements of XP and not just the basic theme.

New version of Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.8 now available

Opera_logo Don't get too excited, there's a new version of the popular web browser, Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.8 available. However, we ask you not to get too excited as you can't expect this updated browser to be packed full of new features. In fact, there aren't any new features. Much like the current situation with Opera 9.24 and the previews of the forthcoming Opera 9.5 release, Firefox 2.0.0.8 is merely a new release with a few new bug and security fixes.

What we're all waiting for is the first beta release of Firefox 3, which was originally planned as an official release in October or November 2007. That's clearly delayed as the first beta isn't even available. We estimate the beta should be available during November as there have already been around eight alpha previews.

Manage & share your calendar and tasks using Chandler

Grab140_3 As many employees now work from home or outside the main office, we need to find new ways of keeping everyone aware of company-wide meetings, events, important tasks and even shared contacts. If your company uses multiple operating systems, then you'll know it's hard to find collaboration software that will enable you to share information across different browsers and systems.

Chandler Project 0.7.1 is a desktop and server application that enables you to store your calendar and task information and then share with other users (who you allow access to your data). If you have a large organisation, you could install the server technology. However, Chandler Project also enable you to have a free online account, using their server to share your calendar.

Backup & restore your important data using CrashPlan

Grab140_2 Backing up your important data and work files can be such a hassle. It's tricky to find a large enough destination to store your backups, some backup tools do not allow synchronisation and, if you backup your laptop, what happens if you take it on the road and then find that you can't access your backup files if you need to restore? The one obvious option would to backup your contents to the Internet.

CrashPlan is a multi-platform desktop tool that will enable you to backup your contents to another computer, an external hard drive or the Internet. You are offered up to 50GB of storage space, which is more than enough to backup your important documents, files, bookmarks, contacts and system files such as your fonts. With CrashPlan you can choose the items you want to backup and you can then retrieve the files from the Internet if you find you loose important data in the future.

Maintain your drive using Paragon Hard Disk Manager Suite

Grab140 There are some tools that should be on our system that perform automated tasks that do not require much intervention. Security tools offer this facility. They enable us to constantly monitor against the latest threats when we open files, run software or browse the web. However, we do not apply this theory to our drive and our hard drive is like the heart of our PC. Just about any other component can fail and we can still access our important work and data. If the hard drive goes down, we're stuffed. For this reason, we should be more proactive in the way we look after our drive contents.

Paragon Hard Disk Manager 2008 Suite is a collection of tools that will enable you to backup your drive data, clone a partition, optimise and defragment the contents, partition and even cleanse and wipe the contents, if you choose to sell your PC. Best of all, it ships with a 3-PC license, which means you could install across your home network and keep every PC maintained.

One new and two updated web browsers

Screengrab Only recently we had two mainstream web browsers to choose from. Internet Explorer 7 which is still a popular browser, despite only receiving minor security fixes. I guess people just trust the browser that ships with their computer. The other is or was Mozilla Firefox 2, with the beta of Firefox 3 available soon. Since the release of Opera 9, that's now a serious competitor to the browser crown and the forthcoming Opera 9.5 looks fantastic. It's updated on a weekly basis and the first beta is out soon. Opera 9.24 has also been released which ships with a number of minor fixes and security updates.

Netscape Navigator 9 has had an official launch and, although this is simply based around the existing Mozilla Firefox 2, with its own customised user-interface, it is said to be rather swift and not quite as bloated as Firefox. So, with this in mind, it might be worth investigating if you like Firefox, but think it's become a little bloated and slow (and crashes frequently under Vista).

Find or share your own WiFi network using Whisher 2

Grab140_3 One way or another, most of us have some kind of portable access to the Internet, whether it is through our laptop, PDA or mobile phone. The latest mobiles enable access to WiFi networks, so you can pick up the latest news, your email or chat to friends through an IM client. However, to use a WiFi network, you'll need an ongoing subscription. You then need a network that's part of your subscription. Using a third-party network for free has been proved to be illegal, without permission of the network owner.

Whisher 2 beta is a free tool that enables you to share your WiFi network, for free, with other users. You can configure your bandwidth, so you could limit usage, so it's not completely saturated. Whisher 2 beta will also find free networks that are part of the Whisher network. It's also a chat client too, so you can chat to friends, irrespective of their network.

New and complete Internet security suite from PC Tools

Grab140_2 When you develop spyware technology, a free anti-virus client, a personal firewall and a separate anti-spam client, wouldn't it make sense to bundle these technologies and release them as a complete Internet security suite? Well, that's exactly what PC Tools have decided to do and they've made available a beta preview version of their new security suite.

PC Tools Internet Security Suite 2008 is a collection of four security modules and should be everything you need to fight spam, virus attack, spyware, malicious software and the spam that fills up your mailbox each day. If you're a fan of Spyware Doctor and the PC Tools Firewall Plus, then you might find that this suite enables you to bring the tools under one interface.

Preview the latest photo manager: Pictomio 0.2

Grab140 There are so many photo managers, viewers and basic editors, you have to produce something very special to grab the attention of digital photographers. Both Apple’s Aperture and Adobe’s Lightroom grab your attention. They’re photo management tools aimed at the professional photographer.

Pictomio 0.2 is a preview of forthcoming photo management technology that resides somewhere between these professional-level tools and the many free photo managers. As well as the usual facilities to catalogue and store your photos, you can quickly see reference information about each photos – where it was taken, when and which camera. However, it differs from other photo managers in that you can view your photos using an Apple-esque cover flow mechanism.

Download Pictomio 0.2, but remember it’s an early preview.

Keep your drive defragmented using Defraggler v1

Grab140 Even after you purchase the fastest hard drive available, once you've started using your drive in a production environment, writing files, installing and uninstalling software, you'll soon find that accessing applications takes longer than before, your system boots more slowly and your system seems sluggish. Why? Over time your drive becomes fragmented as your system will write files to your drive in different locations, rather than storing them in one continuous block.

Defraggler v1 is a new free tool from the developers who brought your CCleaner. It will defragment either your entire hard drive or drive partition. It will even defragment files, so you can rearrange the contents so the load more quickly from your system.

Configure Vista as a multi-boot operating system

Screengrab_2 Like most of us, it probably took you time to be convinced to upgrade to Windows XP. Now XP has been around or years, we’re all used to XP, our system staff can fix issues quickly and our software is all configured and supports the operating system. On a personal note, Vista can be unstable with even basic applications, such as Firefox. It’s crashed writing this blog entry, for example. Worse, upgrade to Vista and you might find that the majority of your tried-and-tested software either needs upgrading (think multi-licensing here) or may not yet be completely Vista compatible.

EasyBCD 1.7 is a tool that will enable you to create a multi-boot version of Vista so that you can choose to boot in to Vista, XP or another operating system, such as Linux. This means you can try Vista and your software, but also use XP if you want to ensure complete compatibility.

New anti-spyware: Webroot Spy Sweeper v PC Tools Spyware Doctor

Screengrab When release, Spyware Doctor 5 was packed full of new and pro-active technology to protect you against the latest threats, that it utilised more system resources than required. This lead to a few users stating that Spyware Doctor 4 was a more system-friendly tool than the latest edition. Now Spyware Doctor 5.1 has been made available, along with Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 5.1, and this new version has been improved to reduce the memory footprint, system resources and more.

Webroot Spy Sweeper 5.5 is always worth investigating. Another commercial anti-spyware application, this tool has always been a popular choice for fighting spyware. As it's from a reputable commercial developer, you'll receive regular definition updates so you can safeguard your machine against the latest threats.

Keep on top of your finances with Money Manager Ex 0.9.1.0

Screengrab_3

Keeping on top of your personal finances is difficult for the majority; just trying to work out where and when your money is going can be tricky, never mind unexpected bills or expenses. A good way to keep on top of your finances is to be able to see your incomings and outgoings more clearly and we would always advise to use a money manager. This will help you to keep on top of all aspects of your finances, from current accounts and credit cards to expenses and personal debts.

Money Manager Ex 0.9.1.0
is a handy money manager that will help you to keep on top of your finances, monitor your expenses and help you to remember what needs to be paid and the date payment is required.

Manage your online passwords with KeePass

Screengrab_2 We're advised that we shouldn't use the same password across the Internet. For this reason, many of us set up a different password for our homepage, photo-sharing site, MySpace page and others.  We probably remember a few of them, especially those we use on a more regular basis, such as those used to access online email accounts. Remembering passwords that we rarely use is somewhat more tricky. It’s not safe to write down your passwords on paper, or keep them stored within your computer. The best way to keep track of your different passwords is to use a password manager, just login to the password manager and access the relevant password.

KeePass 2.03 is a database for you to store all of your passwords. You can keep your passwords safe, just remember your master key or insert they key disk to unlock the database and access your passwords.

Record, produce, mix and then export audio using Reaper 2

Screengrab Even the average user will have their own music library stored on their computer, yet sometimes it can be tricky to get some of your personal music in to your collection. Maybe you have rare or live recordings want to be more accessible for you to listen to by adding them to your PCs library you can then edit, equalise and burn to a CD. Some of these rare recordings may be stored on vinyl, cassette or even video.

REAPER 2.0 is an application designed for a user to record, edit, mix and render audio. It has an easy to use interface for amateurs and professionals and has a large number of features for a reasonably small application. You can easily create your own compositions using Reaper, perhaps mixing in other tracks, and then exporting as your own music.

Manage and access you bookmarks with Safavor 2.0

Screengrab If you use the Internet on a regularly basis, particular for for work, you may have built up a collection of important and useful bookmarks. Although some of these bookmarks may be personal, you might want access during lunch or at the end of your working day. However, on occasion, you find yourself away on business and you may not have access to your machine, therefore you won’t have access to your bookmarks. A bookmark manager could prove beneficial.

Safavor 2.0 is a small but useful tool for managing your bookmarks. You can save your bookmarks onto a portable external hard drive or onto a USB stick so that they can be accessed on any third party machine you are working from.

Manage, pause and resume downloads with GetRight

Screengrab_3 Even if you're a broadband user, a download manager can enable you to enhance and speed up your Internet connection. You can monitor your current downloads, pause them, find multiple sources and in some cases, if a download fails it will automatically restart where it failed the last time you attempted to download.

GetRight 6.3+4 is an Internet download manager that enables you to do all of these things; it will also give you the option of scheduling downloads. So you can download files when you are not using the computer so your downloads do not interfere with your Internet browser.
